Abakan River Station

January 20, 2009

The Abakan river runs more than 500 kilometres accompanying the upper Yenisei and finally flowing into the Krasnoyarskoye reservoir feeding the Krasnoyarsk hydroelectric dam. Obviously the river is navigable and back in 1974, when the picture postcard shown was issued, was used by passenger ships or ferrys. Here we have the riverside station of Abakan, part of a postcard set of 12, issued by the publisher Sowjetskaja Rossia. Pictures are taken by D. Kritshewski.
